About

The Rockwall Dog Park is a project of the 2010 Leadership Rockwall class. The purpose of the park is to provide an area where dogs can learn to socialize with other dogs, kids and adults in a natural and stress-free environment.

The Rockwall Area Dog ParkĀ  features:

  • A completely fenced-in area
  • Separate, divided areas for large breed and smaller breed dogs
  • Grassy and shaded areas for play
  • Water stations
  • Waste pick-up receptacles
  • Custom landscaped sitting areas

The Rockwall Area Dog Park is maintained with purely organic fertilizers and pest control methods for the safety of pets and humans. The Park is handicap accessible, with conveniently located restrooms and ample parking. This dog park is the first of its kind east of the Metroplex. However, there are many dog parks currently in operation across Texas and these parks have proven to be well-used and beneficial to a wide variety of communities and their citizens.

The Rockwall Area Dog Park was designed, built, and operated at no cost to citizens of the community. In order to build the park we are seeking the support of persons and businesses that will benefit from the Park and/or from having your name associated with the support of the park to the dog lovers who will be using the park. For any business seeking to reach dog lovers, The Rockwall Area Dog Park offers the most targeted advertising association available in Rockwall.

The park was opened on May 1, 2011, and is maintained by the City of Rockwall Parks and Recreation Department. The City has graciously provided the land in Harry Myers Park.

All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you!! A dog park in Rockwall is what I have been praying for!! I rescued two dogs 2 years ago as puppies from the same litter (Lab/Akita mix) and my backyard is rather small. THEY have grown up to be my 75 lb. darlings I named Lucy and Ethel and boy do they need room to run and play, as well as socialize with other dogs. They will love this!! THANK YOU!! I cannot wait to bring them on opening day!!

We ask that people wait until the grand opening to give the new sod an extra week to establish itself. But, PREPARE TO RELEASE THE HOUNDS next Saturday!
